I don't know but maybe people don't search Google for flickr much these days.Google trends show flickr down. Then they will end up on the EOL website.

I'm considering though to submit my photos in Google+ instead, at least I could find out if they come up then in Google Image Search.Ĭhange your license to CC-NC, tag them with the taxonomy and add the photos to the encyclopedia of life group. :) I am in a process of identification of plants I met and photographed in the Atlantic Forest (Brazil) and photos of others have been very helpful so i thought mine could be helpful to others too, but if they don't come up in image searches then that misses my goal.I suppose I'll have to be more socially active with groups etc. Thank you all for your time to reply and your insights of possible causes for my issue. Bing is, and always was owned by Microsoft. Yahoo doesn't own Bing and never owned Bing. Also Google have been castigated and fined for prioritising their content and are *supposed* to be acting more fairly. Google is the monopoly and it sets the search paradigm so wondering why, say, my images don't get picked up in google is down to google and its search algorithms, and very little to do with flickr.īut Bing - which is/was Yahoo owned - is also poor at picking up flickr images. And since Google has their own photo services, it is likely they're using their monopoly power to "hide" content from competitors. Google only indexes about 10% of the whole internet. (Had two successful take-downs from Pinterest so far this week). This is also my experience, but I don't use Google Image Search to see what I have posted on Flickr, only to see which of my images are appearing on other sites. I would be willing to bet flickr is not well represented - for any flickr member. Just try going into Google, posting a seach phrase and roll your pointer across the results. There has beeen a falling-off-a-cliff decline in the number of flickr images returned in an image search - I have been a flickr member for well over a decade. I tag, interact, post links, and participate in dozens of groups. Flickr seem to have taken their eye off boosting search results to draw visitors to the site and as a consequence have fallen way down the rankings. This is also true of Bing which I would have expected to favour flickr a little more. Most noticable are recent (ie the last 12 months) uploads to flickr which rarely appear in a search, unless the search criteria is incredibly specific. Google seems to prioritise particularly, alamy and tripadvisor in image searches. by adding your photos to appropriate groups. If you want more attention, with also better chance that search engines find your photos, then you have to do more than only uploading and tagging, e.g.

The Google bots, and also those of other search engines likely just didn't find and index your photos. You don't have any public photo in a group, you hardly interact (following, faving, commenting) with others, so there are hardly links to your photos that bots can follow. Yes, my photos are set to public view, some already for a considerable time but they still don't show up in Google image search. The OP asks why they are NOT found, although they are public. Public content is exactly that, visible to anyone, including search engines. Apparently your photos are not (yet) found and indexed by the Google bots.īecause your photos are public.
